DANCEHALL QUEEN  

Ignite your inner Dancehall Queen with this fierce, fiery and feminine style of dance that originates from the ‘dance halls’ and street parties of Jamaica.

  • Friday 4.00pm – 5.30pm

KITTY CAT      

Kitty Cat is one of Australia’s leading dance facilitators in the genre of Dancehall. In 2015 she became the first Australian in history to compete in the Jamaican International Dancehall Queen competition and travels back annually to learn firsthand from the originators and creators of the style.

DANCING IN THE DARK

Dancing in the Dark will set free your inner disco diva wild woman all by dancing to fabulous music by female singers/bands. We dance in semi-darkness so bust out the glow sticks and get your funk on.

DJ DIVA DANI AND BABELICIOUS BEC         

Dani and her sister were Werribee ambassadors for No Lights No Lycra for a year before setting up their own private group, Dance Club, which is on hiatus while they do other creative projects. Dani and her creative wild woman best friend Bec are bringing their dance energies to Seven Sisters 2018.

HAWAIIAN SHAMANIC BREATH AND MOVEMENT           

Hawaiian Shamanic Healing Practices assist us in living with fuller Presence, Connection and Joy. In sacred space we enter shamanic breath, movement, chant, dance and consciousness-shifting practices to deepen and expand with Self and All Life.

’Iolani Grace has offered the sacred blessings of ancient Hawai’i throughout the world for over 27 years. She is sanctified and respected by Hawaiian elders as a teacher and lineage carrier of Lomilomi Haloa, Hawaiian healing and culture.

Soul Circles Drumming workshops include an introduction to hand-drumming technique, and guidance in the production of a complete arrangement that resonates with the intentions we hold for communion and transformation.

Laura Entwined will teach a nourishing and emotive choreography sequence showcasing key elements of the modern tribal fusion bellydance style that harnesses the serpentine nature and hypnotic curves of a woman’s body.

Laura Entwined a.k.a. Entwined Bellydance, is an accomplished Queensland-born, Melbourne-based tribal fusion dancer. She will be assisted by members of the Entwined Bellydance Troupe.

SOULSCAPE ARTS CAPOEIRA           

The Afro-Brazilian martial art of capoeira is a joyful expression of freedom, which connects us with the spirit of creation.  In this workshop we practise capoeira to call in the creative force, known as ‘àse’ in the Yoruban tradition of West Africa.

REBECCA MARCH        

Rebecca has spent over two decades sharing capoeira, dance, and other  music and movement arts around the world. Her focus is on channelling the creative power of these practices, to generate joy and connect with spirit. Rebecca owns Soulscape Arts & Creativity and is completing her PhD on capoeira.

CORE-US: CREATIVE DANCE 

CORE-US is a dance workshop exploring embodied, collaborative art that restores and connects us to each other and our environment. New skills are fostered; no experience necessary. At the end, we’ll have a dance that we can share with our community!

SUSANNAH KEEBLER

Susannah Keebler is a dance artist, educator, certified teacher of Alexander Technique and yoga instructor, with a BA (dance). She worked for ten years in NYC before moving to Mallacoota. Susannah is inspired by transformation, the revelation of imagination, and the unexpectedness of the everyday and the extraordinary.

INTRODUCTION TO  BELLYDANCE   

A beautiful workshop for Maidens (and their mums) to share the enjoyment of Bellydance. Melanie will share an introductory workshop exploring some of the basic movements that make Bellydance such a feminine, accessible form of dance.

Melanie and her mum Penny have been learning and performing Bellydance around Melbourne for the last 12 years. Melanie is a secondary performing arts teacher and they both enjoy sharing their love of Bellydance with all ages, through many community events and workshops.
